3...2...1...GO!
picture this. it’s been a week. you’re lying on your couch, doomscrolling, netflix on in the background. yesterdays to-go box still on the coffee table and your considering another night of delivery. you scroll and scroll. what are you looking for? is the pit of despair and fear what you were seeking?
we all crave connection. it’s why we share memes on instagram with our friends. it’s why we read books and watch tv shows. and it’s why we join communities like Soulage. sometimes the idea of being in your phone or being alone seems safer, seems like a form of connection, because you don’t feel like having a conversation; don’t feel like getting dressed or don’t have energy to do anything other than show up. but real connectedness is in the world. not in the phone.
3…2…1… go.
it’s a little trick. a technique. you can use it when you are on the verge of dropping in to that deep, vast state of meditation. or you can use it to interrupt the mindless momentum. all the ways you are unconsciously stuck in a rut, a habit, an action, an emotion. all the ways you are pushing up against fear and resistance. you can use the word “go” as a magic permission to release what holds you back.
so, you’re laying on the couch doomscrolling. 3…2…1… go. text a friend and go on a walk. 3…2…1…go. get up and cook a nourishing meal. 3…2…1…go. make that art you’ve been putting off. 3…2…1…go. turn on your favorite song and dance in your living room. 3…2…1… go. immerse yourself in nature. 3…2…1… go. be with yourself and be with us.
being in community reminds us of our shared humanity. even when no words are exchanged. when we are all on our mats moving, breathing, being still together. we are connected and being connected makes us stronger. it’s like a fascial web helping us to collectively bear the weight of this existence and increase our capacity to handle life’s experiences. together.
3…2…1…go. all you need to do is show up.
